Friday in Library is a social club which brings together people from different cultural backgrounds who want to practice Estonian in a pleasant and welcoming setting.

The club is a place to get acquainted with one another, have conversations with the help of various forms of communication, play fun team games, and exchange information.

The Friday in Library events are meant for those who are still learning Estonian and who want to practice it in a playful manner. The events take place from September until December.

Movement party for the whole family A2+ (Narva)

Families with children are invited to a movement party! 

Participants can expect fun dances accompanied by Estonian music, exciting relay competitions, movement and language games, and Estonian folk games. We will play, dance, and communicate in Estonian.

To create a warm atmosphere and a sense of community, participants will bring something sweet to share. We will end the party with sharing tea: drinking tea and juice drinks, communicating in Estonian, and enjoying moving around in the beautiful springtime together.

By singing together, we are going to learn Estonian folk songs, runic songs, pop songs, and learn about Estonian culture. Through the songs, we will learn Estonian vocabulary and pronunciation, have more confidence when speaking, and find new friends. From time to time, we will also play various interactive games and have quizzes.

A cultural walk in the Old Town B1+ (Tallinn)/GROUP FULL

Let us celebrate Tallinn Day with a cultural walk in the Old Town ‘The first and oldest in Tallinn’ with a guide from the Tallinn City Museum.

Where is the oldest street, park, or tree in Tallinn located? Where is the first café and the oldest tavern or restaurant? During the tour, we will get to know the first and the oldest and the most exciting places in the historical urban space. The tour will start in the Kiek in de Kök Museum and end at the Town Hall Square.

Tallinn Day is a celebrated on 15 May, which commemorates the granting of Lübeck city rights to Tallinn in 1248. With this, Tallinn was accepted into the Union of European Cities.

At the end of each class we’ll summarise what we’ve learnt in Estonian in terms of both new words and about cooking itself. We’ll discuss what we found difficult and what exciting new discoveries we made.

The classes will be all about socialising, which will take place entirely in Estonian.

Participants should bring their own aprons.
