Social club for beginners

This club is open to true beginners: people just starting to learn Estonian. Through games and other fun activities, we practise the language in a relaxed atmosphere. This will help you overcome the language barrier and gain more courage to use your Estonian. Club activities take place entirely in Estonian.

Only people who present the certificate to prove that they (1) are vaccinated, (2) have been recovered  from COVID-19 can take part in events.

The COVID certificates of all attendants will be checked at the entrance, please bring your identity document with you as well.   

The certificate can be submitted in both paper and digital form (eg from smartphone).

CONVERSATION CLASSES FOR ADVANCED LEARNERS

These conversation classes are designed for intermediate to advanced adult learners of Estonian whose language skills already enable them to converse in the language but who need and want to hone their spoken Estonian in particular. 

Each class takes a different topic as its focus, which remains a secret right up until the class begins.

Participants in these workshops hone their writing skills (both literally and figuratively) by trying out different styles of calligraphy. As an added bonus, they gain a practical skill that can be put to use making, for example, a card for a special occasion or a specially-worded decoration. The workshops are run entirely in Estonian.

WRITING COURSE: Happiness through writing with Berit Kaschan

This creative and invigorating course will give you the chance to process your feelings and memories and open yourself up to who you truly are as you prime yourself to write, polish your self-expression skills and discover topics that inspire you. We’ll be reading, writing and discussing things together – and be very happy to do so!

CONVERSATION CLASSES FOR RUSSIAN-SPEAKING PARENTS OF LANGUAGE IMMERSION PUPILS – ‘The Key to Estonian 2021’ POSTPONED

These classes are designed especially for Russian-speaking parents of pupils attending language immersions schools or kindergartens or enrolled in Estonian-language schools, so as to give the parents the chance to learn and practise Estonian based on the language immersion approach. We’ll be sharing our problems and concerns and discussing what unites us: language immersion, supporting our children, choosing suitable educational institutions and transferring between them, plus other education-related matters. The classes will occasionally be attended by language immersion experts, who’ll answer any questions and join in on discussions. Some of the classes will be held in exciting cultural venues. ‘The Key to Estonian’, which was established in 2019, offers language practice through a variety of activities and organises events and excursions.

Language roulette gets you practising your Estonian! Bringing people together via Zoom, it offers you the chance to chat about given topics in random groups for a pre-determined amount of time. What exactly you’ll be discussing you’ll only find out on the day! A fun, relaxed atmosphere is guaranteed. 

Min. language level required: A2 (The format is open to learners whose Estonian skills are at least at the A2 level as well as to native speakers of the language)
