The event is intended for language learners interested in culture. During the trip, we will get to know about the world of thought and creation of the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Arvo Pärt is a composer who creates classical and religious music; in addition to concert halls, his works have been performed in more than a hundred films of different genres, numerous dance and theatre productions, and other multimedia texts.

CAMP: Estonian-English tandem camp in Palamuse (Tallinn)

An adult language learning camp based on the stories of Paunvere by Oskar Luts!

The camp takes place next to Palamuse and lasts for three days. Participants who are both native speakers of Estonian and fluent in English are welcome, all of whom are ready to learn and teach the language in tandem through fun activities and a fun get-together.

We will play exciting language learning games, get to see the wonderful surroundings of Palamuse, compete in a landscape game, get involved in an improv theatre, watch the films Spring and Summer, which are beloved by Estonians, and do it all in both Estonian and English.

Who can participate?
1) Persons learning English with Estonian as their mother tongue, whose level of English is at least B1 and
2) learners of Estonian who are fluent in English and whose level of Estonian is at least B1.

We offer accommodation, three meals a day, and a varied programme. Transport from Tallinn is also organised. Participation is free of charge.

An outing to Vargamäe, Järva County – the birthplace of the most famous Estonian writer, Anton Hansen Tammsaare. We will take a tour in Estonian of the place where Tammsaare was inspired to write his novel Truth and Justice and we will see where the characters of the novel, Andres and Pearu, come from.

DISCOVERING THE TALLINN CITY SPACE – Kopli (Tallinn) / all places are booked

Come for a guided walk to discover the districts and subdistricts of Tallinn, where you can practise the Estonian language as well as raise your cultural and historical awareness. This time, we are taking a walk in the Kopli subdistrict.

We will get to know about the interesting history of Kopli, special buildings, the multitude of people and their stories.

In addition to the streets, we also walk in the landscape and on the beach and cross the railway. Kopli is windy! Please consider these conditions when choosing shoes and clothing.

FOREST GAME – A night-time visit to the zoo (Tallinn) / all places are booked

The forest game is a supportive activity for the learners of the Estonian Language House. We get to know valuable natural places, learn the vocabulary related to plants, animals, and birds, talk about nature conservation, and contribute to it. We visit places of interest to get acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of the area and to encourage independent discovery.

‘Trips in Northern Tallinn’ is a new series of events that will take us to very different places in Northern Tallinn. During the three meetings, we will get to know about the Noblessner port town, the Paljassaare peninsula conservation area, and the Põhjala factory. All trips take place in Estonian and offer the opportunity to practise the Estonian language and get more information about Northern Tallinn.

THE GENIUS MATI UNT (Tallinn)

We get to know about the life and work of Mati Unt. We will find out how he influenced the Estonian literary landscape and why he is also important for today’s readers. Participants can step into the shoes of Mati Unt and try to write with a Soviet-era typewriter as part of a playful task.
