Return support

Return support is aimed at facilitating the return of families with children who have stayed abroad for a long time, as the number of family members increases over the years and the cost of returning services is high.

The return support is also aimed young people under 40 years of age who have completed postgraduate and doctoral studies abroad, in order to encourage the return of young people who have received education abroad and start working in Estonia.

Who can apply for return support?

An ethnic Estonian who has Estonian citizenship or Estonian residence permit can apply for the return support, provided that he/she meets the following conditions.

Have you returned or will return to Estonia permanently, no later than eight months prior from the date you will submit the returnee support application?

To apply for return support you must have returned no later than eight months ago.

Have you registered your place of residence in the Population Register of the Republic of Estonia?

Before applying for support you must register your place of residence in the Estonian Population Register.

Do you meet one of the below conditions?
NOTE: Young people under 40 years of age who have completed their Master’s degree and doctorate studies abroad do not need to have lived abroad for seven years

Due to your current economic and social conditions do you require returnee support because you and your family do not have at their disposal the means of daily subsistence that do not meet the threshold established in Estonia?

The return support is meant for returning families or returning young graduates with current economic difficulties.
