The Estonian Language House in Narva invites to sing in a tandem choir!

Do you love to sing, but aren't 100% sure you can?

Do you like learning languages in an unconventional way?

Do you enjoy singing with other people and learning about different cultures?

Would you like to learn Estonian or practice Russian, but struggle to find native speakers?

If you answered "yes" to some of these questions and you are aged 18+, then we are looking forward to you to apply for our tandem choir!

A tandem choir is a choir where both Estonian language learners and native speakers of Estonian sing together. The choir is conducted by Indra-Mirell Zeinet and Oliver Povel-Puusepp. The working language of the choir is Estonian, but our repertoire will include songs in both Estonian and Russian, as well as in other languages.

As our choir is joy-based and primarily intended to support language and cultural learning, don't worry about your singing voice: if you want to sing, apply!

Our choir project will last from December to the end of August, and will end on 28 August with the sing-together party “Sõida tasa üle silla” held in Narva, where the choir will perform. The first introductory meeting of the choir members will take place in Zoom on 21 December.

From January, we will meet twice a month on Saturdays. On one Saturday, the rehearsal will last from 12:00 to 16:00, but on the other Saturday, we are all going to drive to a place in Estonia, practice singing there and get acquainted with the local cultural and musical life. We will rest in June, but at the beginning of August, there will be a choir camp for the singers.

To apply:

1. Record a video of yourself singing one song and send it to us. NB! The language of the song is not important. We recommend that you send us the large file via the WeTransfer environment.

2. Fill in the registration form by 30 November at the latest: https://forms.gle/gtFjr6L37CzhHsj9A and write a short motivational letter in Estonian (8 sentences maximum) about why you wish to sing in the tandem choir.

3. Send the video to the e-mail address pille.maffucci@integratsioon.ee by 30 November. We will let you know about the results of your application by e-mail by 8 December.

If you have any questions, please write to: pille.maffucci@integratsioon.ee
