Aim
As integration is a two-way process, it is important to involve Estonians in joint activities with people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Raising awareness and promoting mutual contacts help overcome barriers and create new opportunities for people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds to participate in the society. Joint activities help strengthen mutual contacts and introduce Estonian culture, customs, traditions, and values.
Sub-activities of the activity ‘Involvement of Volunteers in Integration Activities’:
- assessing the current situation regarding the involvement of volunteers, focusing on activities in the field of integration;
- creating a programme for involving and supporting volunteers, including volunteer leaders, to support the implementation of integration activities;
- training volunteers and volunteer leaders;
- supporting, guiding and empowering non-governmental organisations in their work with communities of people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds;
- developing and supporting the capabilities of community centres to organise integration activities; creating platforms for meetings to exchange experiences; supporting cross-platform collaboration.
