Adaptation programme

Aim: The Settle in Estonia adaptation programme is a free study programme, through which the Estonian state assists foreigners who have recently arrived in Estonia in adapting to local life and integrating into Estonian society more quickly. 

Within the framework of the programme, foreigners can take various courses to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for adaptation. The conditions of participation (training, whether participation is mandatory, etc.) depend on their legal status in Estonia.

90% of all participants in the programme have confirmed that the training has improved both their Estonian language skills as well as their knowledge of Estonian society, culture, and the country itself.

Provider of funding: the adaptation programme is co-funded by the European Union and the state budget.

Amount of funding: 21,100,000 euros, of which 12,950,000 euros is provided by the European Social Fund (ESF) of the European Union, 1,950,000 euros by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), and 6,200,000 euros is co-financed by the state.

Period of eligibility: European Social Fund (ESF) 1 January 2023 – 31 October 2029. Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) 1 June 2023 – 31 October 2029.
