The Integration Foundation is launching a project competition designed to encourage people in Ida-Viru County who speak different languages to play sport and enjoy culture together.
By doing sports and taking part in cultural events together, people strike up acquaintances with speakers of other languages much more organically than they otherwise might.
This is why taking part in engaging activities with other like-minded individuals is one of the best ways of integrating people from different backgrounds.
What kind of projects will the foundation be supporting?
-
Cultural and sporting events in Ida-Viru County, including performances, festivals, quizzes, exhibitions, literary events and sports competitions
-
Activities showcasing the county and what makes it special
-
Activities promoting cultural cooperation between organisations from different parts of Estonia where one of the organisations is based in Ida-Viru County
-
Undertakings fostering the development of language for communication (such as by taking part in food culture events, discussions and quizzes and the organisation of hobby clubs with the aim of bringing together people with shared interested but different linguistic backgrounds)
-
The publication and translation of materials promoting studies of Estonian
The total budget of the competition is 150,000 euros, with the maximum amount of support that can be sought for a single project being 30,000 euros. The competition is being financed by the Ministry of Culture.
The deadline for applications is 16:00 on 11 October.
NOTE: An information session for applicants will be held at 11:00 on 18 September at the Narva office of the Integration Foundation (2nd floor, Kerese Keskus, Kerese 3).
