The Integration Foundation is launching cultural and recreational activities across Estonia in May to support adults in learning Estonian through immediate experience. Registration for the programmes opens on 30 April, and the first activities will take place as early as 11 May. These activities offer the opportunity to learn the language in a natural setting – in museums, around town, in the countryside, and at community events.
The programmes will take place from May to October 2026 and will last a total of six months. Each group takes part in 12 sessions, which are held twice a month, with each session lasting three academic hours. There are 16–20 participants in a group, which creates a good environment for active communication. The programmes are structured so that language learning takes place primarily through practical activities: the focus is on communication in Estonian and language practice, supported by discussions, role-plays, and workshops. Learning is inclusive and practical – participants work together, complete tasks and use the language in a variety of situations. Language learning is also supported by specially designed learning materials, such as worksheets and visual aids, which help learners to better understand and use new vocabulary.
The activities are organised by SA Eesti Tervishoiu Muuseum (Tallinn city centre), Kerrom OÜ (Tartu), MTÜ Meelte Kindlus (Jõhvi), SA Narva Muuseum (Narva), and Kersti Võlu Koolituskeskus (Sillamäe and Narva-Jõesuu).
These activities give participants the opportunity to learn Estonian in real-life situations – through communication, practical activities, and cultural experiences. This approach helps to boost confidence in using the language, develop vocabulary, and support better integration into Estonian society and the labour market.
You can choose a suitable programme of cultural and recreational activities and register for it via the self-service portal of the Integration Foundation.
